East Point Police Department Celebrates 22nd Annual National Night Out

EAST POINT, GEORGIA (July 13, 2005) - - The East Point Police Department will celebrate the City’s 22nd Annual National Night Out, Tuesday, August 2, 2005, 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The celebration will take place at the Christopher R. Betts Memorial Precinct, located in the Camp Creek Market Place in East Point, Georgia.

National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). The NATW is a non-profit, crime prevention organization, which works in collaboration with thousands of law enforcement agencies and crime watch groups across the nation to develop and implement crime prevention programs. More than 34 million people participated nationwide during the 2004 National Night Out celebration Through its annual National Night Out campaign, the NATW accomplishes the following:
Heightens community awareness of drug and crime prevention.
Encourages community support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs.
Fortifies the partnership between police and the community.
Sends a message to criminals letting them know that the community is organized and will not tolerate crime.

The community is cordially invited to attend and meet City dignitaries, along with law enforcement, community and civic leaders. Scheduled activities will include crime prevention techniques, drug awareness and interpersonal skills training, and a variety of fun and games. The “Night Out” events will culminate with refreshments provided complimentary to all attending.
